What to do in New Iberia

There's plenty to do while staying with us in historic New Iberia, Louisiana, including our attractions and festivals as well as those in nearby Lafayette, Breaux Bridge, and St. Martinville.

Our neighbor across the street is the Shadows on the Teche built on the banks of the Teche by planter, David Weeks in 1834. The home was bequeathed to the National Trust for Historical Preservation in 1958. Today the mansion is open daily to the public, and visitors can see for themselves the gracious interior and lush gardens that are a rich heritage of the South before the Civil War.

Naturally you won't want to miss Shadows on the Teche, but there are many other wonderful things to see and do in this very special part of the world. You may want to visit...

Atchafalaya Basin--Tour the swamps, bayous and coves to see ancient cypress trees, exotic birds and alligators.

Avery Island--Wander through the island's Jungle Gardens called "Bird City". Then take a tour of the McIlhenny family's famous Tabasco pepper sauce factory and find out how heat is packaged.

As we say in South Louisiana,--"laissez les bon temps roulez"--let the good times roll! Let us help you complete your itinerary from the hundreds of things to do and see in Acadiana. From food, to festivals, to historic sites, Zyedeco and Cajun music, fishing, golfing, and casinos--we have it all!
